If everything was equal, then I would agree that penalties may be being called unfairly. The fact of the matter is that things are not equal and coaching matters a lot whether that be avoiding or enticing penalties. I have no doubt that Saban and his staff teach our players how to draw penalties because it is to our advantage to do so. For example, they could teach defensive lineman a certain technique with their hands inside that is equally effective while making holding calls more evident.
