I think the point is that the meaning of bowls and post-season progress has changed and evolved over the last 100 years.

I mean, come on. 1925 isn't even in what's considered the "modern era" of college football (generally accepted to have started around 1950). You can't apply today's standards to a game which wasn't even the same almost 90 years ago, dude, and you know it.

There are too many problems to overcome so it's probably better each club pick their own and celebrate their own. The issue/conflict is always when the expectation is for others to concur.
