We are thinking City Grocery. He has never been there, or Oxford for that matter. Where or what do you recommend?

City Grocery is nice, but overpriced. However, it probably has the best "Oxford" feel. 208 was very meh when I ate there. Snackbar is not on the square and it is his only time, gotta be on the square. Ajax is awesome, not expensive and good food. Boure, great balcony food is good and their bartenders actually know how to make a drink. My 2 cents.

Ajax and get the squash casserole, I prefer it with the pork chop medium.

I love the Jerk Pork Steak with sweet potato casserole and black eye peas from Ajax.

I'm partial to the meatloaf and dressing, myself. Another vote for Ajax.

I'm coming home tomorrow, to where that may hit the spot, with a side of mashed potatoes and Mac and Cheese....

A follow up:
Dad & I ate at City Grocery Monday night. Place empty expect for a table of three people four tables down towards the bar. I heard a familiar voice, it was none other than Mr. Morgan Freeman.

I saw Morgan Freeman in Oxford once at the movie theater.
I think he just likes hanging out around town.
