Of course you were competitive the last two years. Right now you're not, at least in terms of competing to win the division. For crying out loud...you just had a drop out of the polls of historical proportions. So when people say that you're a couple of recruiting classes away from being competitive, it's going from this moment, in 2012, to competing for the division title. What you did the last two years with BMFP running the show is completely and utterly irrelevant.
What is it they say about denial being the first of five stages of grief?

Petrino took over a much worse situation and had us in a BCS game in his third season.
And he couldn't even recruit!

We have the talent to be competitive. It's our coaches that are fricking up. If Strong came in then yes, he would be able to compete right way

Arky wasn't a couple recruiting classes away from competing. They were one dumbass coach away. As good as Bama's defense was last year, I don't think you'd want to get into a shootout with them this year if dipshit was calling the plays. And I'm not talking about the guy that likes to slap himself.
