You can't discount the fact that this "information" comes from a UK website. Not exactly the most objective of sources when discussing a UL coach, especially one that 'Cat fans would LOVE to see somewhere else.

I think Strong is a solid coach and would be on anyone's short list, and given the uncertainty of UL's league affiliation, it's only natural that he would keep his eye open for possible moves. Having said that, however, Strong is a high-character guy who undoubtedly feels a lot of loyalty to Tom Jurich and UL for giving him a shot when so many others had passed him over. I don't think he'll jump at the first thing to come along and will think long and hard before leaving UL.

Given that he's from Arkansas, I'm sure the job would be attractive, but I wouldn't consider it a slam dunk that he would take it. A lot might depend on the possibility of a UL move to a new league.

The impression that I get is that McConnell really pissed off some Big 12 people with his public campaign against West Virginia joining and that combined with Pitino's hesitancy in leaving the Big East (and being vocal about it) really hurt UofL moving to the Big 12.

And when Strong made those public "loyalty" comments, that was before all of that went down and most were sure that Louisville would get the Big 12 bid.

As far as character, UofL fans may make it seem like he's shitting on the program, but Arkansas is a step up in conference, facilities, and support. Jurich might throw some money at him to keep him. But he's going to take a long, hard look at the conference issue and the playoff. And I know no one at UofL right now can tell him they have a guaranteed path out of the Big East because not everyone in the AD office wants to leave the Big East.
