Not really. Just stating a fact.
Missouri is what it is and it doesnt need to be shoe horned into a something in an attempt to "Fit in" in the SEC.

Your fact about it being 50-50 is wrong because militia and guerrillas couldn't be accounted for.
And you're right, Missouri is what it is. It was a mixed state. We don't need to shoe horn ourselves to fit in with Alabama or Mississippi.
BUT, and this is a big but you don't need to ignore what it is either. The little bubble of St. Louis does not represent the majority of Missouri. In fact the Ozark region takes up the most of this state and that is and always has been a more independent/Confederate area. Missouri is what it is and should be proud of it.. part of that is informing people on the truth and not calling ourselves yankees just to upset them.

Exactly.
And what it is, and has always been, is a confusing mesh of people. Parts of the state seem northern, parts of the state seem southern. Kansas City is almost a western city and St. Louis does feel more like a northeastern city than anything else. It's just the way it is, and there's nothing wrong with it.
That said, there are definite strong, southern roots in Missouri, and denying that is ignorant.
