Auburn isn't the only school with these problems, but they have more than their fair share, it seems. I think the problem is at all levels: parents, recruitment and coaching once on campus. These kids are usually treated differently in high school. Many of them are courted by several universities and followed online by recruiting services like they're rock stars. They start thinking they don't have to follow the rules. The bottom line is that the coaches who bring them to campus are now responsible. If they can't get their attention, they need to let them go. That's not harsh. The coaches are paid to win. These arrests aren't winning behavior. My husband played football for Coach Bryant. (Yes, I'm old.)
