Miami 2001 is considered the GOAT because of who played on that defense, so many future NFL superstars. If the same thing happens with Alabama then they'll be considered for the distinction.

I would think that most LSU fans would have enough sense to steer clear of that after what happened in the NC Game?

LSU fans realize they had a great defense last year, but it wasn't the greatest. I don't even believe it was the greatest LSU defense in the past decade, but that's just my opinion.
Now Bama fans, on the other hand...
