That's actually one of the main reasons our endowment is bigger, we keep it as much out of the state legislator's hands as we can. Arkansas state politics is corrupt, but Louisiana's is just downright retarded. Nothing scares private investment away faster than politicians trying to vulture power.

It's more than the current political structure. It's where budget cuts are permitted to be made in Louisiana per our constitution and the four-year higher education structure in LA. It's things that have been in place forever, make us less competitive, and are politically dire for anyone willing to take them up. Unfortunate but I don't know how it will change. Too many small arse towns reliant on the four-year school to have it change from a political standpoint.
