I feel better about it than I did for 2010 though.

This.

But, that 2010 defense actually led the SEC, and was in the top 3 in every passing defense category, including having lowest completion percentage. It's just that they had some busts and they came at some very inopportune times.

I expect this defense to be better, but if it's not, at least try to screw up when it doesn't matter as much.

As Teague said, the 2010 secondary was good overall just had inoppurtune busts in several games that cost us. 2012 is similar to 2010 in that we are replacing a lot of starters in the secondary, the difference is that we're replacing them with more experienced players than in 2010. Let's take a look at each position.

1st CB
'10: Dre - SO no starting experience
'12: Milliner - Junior 17 starts

2nd CB
'10: Milliner - Tr FR no experience
'12: Fulton - Junior no starting experience but 3rd year in the system

Nickel back
'10: Menzie - JUCO who didn't enroll until summer and was rehabbing achilies injury up to fall camp
'12: Belue - JUCO who enrolled in January and went through spring training

Safety
'10: Barron - JR, 2nd year starter
'12: Lester - Sr, 3rd year starter

Safety
'10: Lester - SO, no starting experience
'12: Sunseri - SO, no starting experience

Dime back:
'10: Lowery - SO, walk-on no starting experience
'12: Clinton-Dix - SO, no starting experience

When you add it all up the '12 squad has considerably more experience than the '10 squad particularly at the CB spots. Should result in fewer blown assignments.
