Agreed. The #5 conference winner would jump a #4 loser in all likelihood under the criteria. The committee looks at win loss record, strength of schedule, conference championships as well as head to head results. Oregon would easily get the nod.

I thought OSU was the second best team in the country though? Wouldn't that mean they would beat Bama in the semi's?

I don't know.

I think Bama could have beaten them.

Not certain, obviously.

I don't think LSU would've beat Oregon that late in the year. Oregon was clicking, LSU couldn't move the ball.

nah, Oregon still wouldn't have moved the ball well against LSU. I see a pretty similar result to the first game played between the two.

The sky is not falling. With a selection committee, I imagine that rematches will be avoided if possible. They said that tghe best 4 get in, not that is an absolute 1-4 2-3 setup.

LSU's defense got better as the year went on. . .

I don't think they could have played with LSU late in the season.

LSU struggled to move the ball, sure. . .

. . .against UGA and Bama.

That's like saying. . ."your defense sucks because Peyton Manning threw for 200 yards on you!!!!"

If it isn't, they would be intentionally aiding the #2 team, in order to frick the #1

We moved the ball just fine against anyone that didn't have an elite defense. Oregon finished 67th in total defense

We would have destroyed them...again

The do it in baseball all the time. The reason a selection committee is better is that you are not bound by computers, some common sense can prevail. (hopefully...)

what common sense pits #1 against a better team than the #2 team has to play?
