I don't get the ring comment, like ours are bigger than other schools' or something?

No, but a group of alumni having a noticeable and identifying ring is enough to get this vol butthurt. I know there is SEC pride, but I'm going to invent SEC West pride. frick UT, their fans are all like this guy. I'm gonna be screaming Roll Tide on The Third Saturday in October. We play big boy football in the SEC West, something this Vol is obviously jealous of.

Thanks. Don't worry, we have loved Tenn for years. Yall are the basis of a classic local insult: "No I was talking about the REAL UT."

Most Tenn fans are pretty decent. Don't let this exeption to the rulemcloud your vision. I like Tenn.

I know. That is why an outrageous blanket claim about UT fans, like this:

Shouldn't be taken seriously.

Seriously though, get rid of that guy. An Aggie fricked his girl or something.

Actually, since he's probably a sip in disguise, an Aggie woman made his man straight again and stole him.

It's just kinda odd to wear it on a daily basis, or even order one at all in most cases. Not that I care, but I think that's what he was saying.

No worries, Vol--we've dealt with his ilk since 1883 (I'd bet money guy's got longhorn ties).
We're good an' shite.
Thanks for the welcome. Damn glad to be here.

See, this is why people say you're UTexas' bitch. You needlessly bring them into conversations that have absolutely nothing to do with them.

-It's how you spot another Ag from several feet away.

-The design hasn't changed in almost 120 years.

-It was important enough that, when a German national found one in a field near his house 12 years ago, he was invited to present it ON VETERANS DAY at Kyle Field. The owner? Medal of Honor recipient Turney W. Leonard. (I was at that game: A&M vs. OU)

In Houston also...I can confirm all claims made by above poster.

When someone says things that clearly identify themselves as someone OTHER than a fan of the school they claim (in this case, a sip claiming to be a Vol), you call them out.

If it weren't for A&M, there would be no Neyland.

That's great and all, but at most universities people don't even order rings at all, much less actually wear them. I'm not saying it's bad, just realize that it is very different.

And they are still better than your dress-up party. So is it like a costume party for all those not going into the military?

As well:

1. Wrong. It was not even close to the majority of one class, maybe 10% of one class. 78/4000 is not a majority. Maybe in Aggie math.
2. How many were proven in court?
3. Two people, out of 4k+. I was there at that time.
4. Somehow Academies value 'other' things a bit more than football success. However, since you brought it up, they have the same number of bowl wins in the past 10 years and have two National Championships since you had your last. You guys need to improve a bit.

Good for the last line. Good ROTC program.

As for the rings, I guess they are cool and all...If they were only for the people going into the military or something maybe.

You're an idiot. In no way did he lead anyone to believe he's anything but a UT fan. If you had been here any significant amount of time you would know that OneMoreVol is one of the more common UT posters/fans on this site, not a Texas fan.

Since you were an Academy graduate, have you ever served in Recruiting or ROTC?

If so, you would know that the academies are the only schools that are allowed to by law commission every one of their cadets. The number of commissions by branch are limited by the branches themselves. Even if A&M wanted to commission every cadet, they CAN'T.

Also, being an academy grad, you would know that at least 10-20% of cadets at the academies never make it to their junior year...and don't end up serving a day. Not to mention the staggering percentage of academy graduates that do not serve beyond their initial 5-year obligation.

My beef with the academies is limited to West Point. For some reason, unlike USAFA and USNA, they have a problem graduating officers who aren't completely "socially retarded" (quote from a Navy Captain who taught there in the late-90's).

Indeed, it's different. Most of what Texas A&M University does is different.

Didn't mean to ruffle your feathers with regard to the longhorn comment; but call it years & years of experience. Within the state of Texas, when someone takes as strong a stance against either the Ags or the Horns (as did the above poster), you can bet bucks that he has close acquaintances/family on one "side" of the fight; otherwise he wouldn't care.

And when they aren't part of the military, they don't get to wear the uniform any more. They don't get to keep wearing the uniform like a dress-up party, even though they are certainly not going into the military. I also know WHY 10-20% never make it to their junior year. It is very, extremely difficult. Both the military aspect and the academic aspects. It would be insulting for those that washed out to continue to wear the uniform alongside those that were actually doing it and going into the military. I'm not sure what serving beyond your 5 year obligation has to do with anything? They actually did their time in the military, unlike those just playing costume party. I have the utmost respect for those that go into the military. The others that know they aren't and still dress up, not so much at all. Much like the rings. If the rings were only for those in the Corps of Cadets that go into the military, that would be cool. Everyone that completes 90 hours, 45 at TAMU isn't so cool.
