Once separate forums are set up, regardless of what specific rules/goals are stated, a view from a fan not of that school will be construed as 'trolling', imo, and come to be disregarded almost out of hand. I understand the thought behind separate team forums but as I said, this is the norm in blogosphere and would diminish SR, whereas fan interaction is what sets it apart. I realize there would simply be a general forum where fans of all clubs would meet but this seems like much duplication, regarding topics.I'm sure all this will be considered before that 'move'.

O'bama likes change. Why don't you?

What I've found most interesting and useful in SR is the viewpoints offered that one may not hear on a club fansite (once the homerism is dispensed with). I suppose this may due to 'groupspeak' not being the norm and assumptions more readily challenged. That being said, forums are social in nature...sure, they have an underlying purpose (Tiger Rant = LSU Sports, Music Board = music discussion, etc), but the users that frequent a forum start to form a community because they are comfortable with the colors, layout, and feel of the forum, and they enjoy discussion with the other regulars.
I think the SEC Rant would be fine if forums existed for other schools...you will still have the SEC Rant regulars who enjoy discussing and shooting the stuff with fans from other schools, and you would have separate places for fans to get a broad array of discussion topics about their school.
But we will be careful in how we proceed.

ib4 didn't the Mayans predict this would happen this year?

Essentially there are "school forums" on here if you visit the SEC Recruiting Board. Each school has its own ongoing recruiting thread in there, which doubles as a school thread.
That hasn't diminished the Rant in my opinion. For example, The same posters who spend a lot of time in Mizzou's Recruiting thread still frequent the Rant and other Boards.
It'll be fine.

Since I am meek and mild mannered I will submit to the all powerful and knowing. Seriously, I enjoy tigerdroppings...dont be fooled by post count either...used to be on board years ago and lost ability...ok...too lazy to re submit another username etc etc....so I lurked a little.
Hope that this is change for the better.

First, we are moving them off of TigerDroppings.com and on to SECrant.com...this could happen today.
But then LSu fans can't say..."Its an LSu site! Get out if you dont like it."

Since there will be a whole new website, are you going to hire new ADMINS, Chicken?
If so, I nominate hg.

Eventually, the team page could evolve into a separate forum for that school and its fans.

I think you could add a lot more to the site by having team forums. I don't know how much a Vanderbilt forum would add, but an Alabama forum would add tons of visitors if you stuck with it.
I'm not the biggest fan of the current SEC Rant setup. This is because I come mainly for Alabama news instead of SEC flame wars. I would love an Alabama forum.
I'm not sure how the most important question hasn't been asked though...does my post count carry over?
