Or it will rotate between Dallas and Atlanta or something like that
I would be open to that idea.

Definitely agree. SEC bowl games are about wearing shorts and a shirt in January
Can you think of one major bowl played in a cold location? I can't really think of any bowls played in areas like that.

There are some though...
Little Caesars Pizza Bowl - Detroit
Famous Idaho Potato Bowl - Boise
Military Bowl - Washington, D.C
Pinstripe Bowl - Bronx, NY

It sucks for the sugar bowl, but it's a strong move for the SEC and Big 12 to rival the Rose Bowl. Makes a lot of sense. It's a good power move IMO.

Did I miss the fact that the Big 12 has more appearances and wins in the BCS games? OSU has almost as many wins alone as the entire Big XII
It's a good move since it'll be a big game. Are they getting rid of the Fiesta?

Agreed... that it is a good power move, however I am pretty sure that the Sugar Bowl has a contract(s) with the sec..not 100%.
I would Like to see it as a home & away series, and when it is away from NOLA have the #2 SEC team play.

Sounds like Slive & Co. might be banking on a bidding war between the Sugar Bowl & ole Jerry Jones...
Big bucks will be coming outta this....

Yea b/c the 2 best were sec teams. I don't have a problem with that.

I kinda feel like the opposite. The Rose Bowl model has kinda faded from relevance.
People somehow think that the Rose Bowl:
1) has always only had big 10 vs pac teams (it hasn't)
2) still has traditional value if it includes runners up from those conferences (it doesn't)
If the SEC and Big 12 add to this silliness by also doing an automatic match-up the whole scene at the top of college football just gets even more messy and unwieldy
The proposed SEC/Big 12 game isn't a tradition yet and should be stopped before it further fouls up the flexibility of college football conferences. No matter what the outcome of that game unless you set up a multiple team playoff field before you start the playoff it just gets even more subjective and prone to manipulation.
If we want to use conference champs as the basis for a playoff then that's fine but it shouldn't be limited to just those four conferences when some years another conference rep will be better than some or all of those champs.
If we want to use a playoff model that doesn't use conference championships as your method for qualification then the whole thing is a distraction (neither the Rose nor the SEC/Big 12 matchup are logical as the first rounds in the playoff)

Doubtful, sounds like slive said frick the sugar bowl. I'm not sure how that whole deal was set up. But I don't think this is a fight over me battle. Sounds like Slive went a new direction.

Somewhat true, but Delany uses it as leverage when trying to set up the playoff system the way he wants. This gives Slive that same leverage. Smart move.

SEC commish Mike Slive raids Big 12, then forms an alliance with it, all in less than a year. I think we found the man to fix Washington.
