Well, I think that's a given, but would he have been a better interim than John L?

Not an ideal hire by any means whatsoever, but it would have been better than John L Smith.

And if Arkansas had shown any interest in giving him more than just this one year, no doubt in my mind they steal chief from LSU.

Arkansas is going to get whoever they want. They can pay up to or more than Bama and LSU

this was my first concern when Fulmer's name was brought up, although LSU would have made it a tough decision w/ the the money and talent he'd be leaving. Chief wouldn't have been as good at Ark as he is at LSU. Him leaving would have been a big blow to LSU though; he's a great fit w/ the talent LSU brings in

Fulmer is starting to come off as a stage 5 clinger.

I disagree. Fulmer would not have been better than John L. Smith.

Smith knows the coaches and players and system already.

Fulmer would have spent the first month learning everybody's name.

Both are a shite sandwich, but Fulmer is the shite sandwich with fromunda cheese.

The poster is right that we have top 5 $$ to spend these days.

That doesn't mean we'll get whoever we want.

Do either miles or saban have a clause in their contract where they have to be the highest paid coach in the leauge?

Not so sure about that. LSU maybe but the only other university that can get in a bidding match with Bama is Texas.

Ark may be able to spend a lot of money, but they're not the job LSU and Bama are; not even close. That's a top 20 job give or take, maybe?
