Luis, who got the win this past Sunday vs Ole Miss and is 3-0 on the season was diagnosed with Lukemia at the age of 4. He battled through it for four years as a child.
Reading this article makes me an even bigger fan of Luis who at only at 5'7" is One of the smaller players in the SEC.

That was an excellent story. I already liked the guy, but this makes him someone to admire.

I have heard that Luis may start in the outfield if Bama starts a lefty tonight or tomorrow.

I had a best friend who played baseball that I lost at the age of 20 to Leukemia. Diagnosed when he was little as well. I see a lot of parallels between these two all the way down to having the same "wish." Though my friend had to settle for a hot tub. More power to Luis he's an inspiration.

I heard that too, when I read the article.
I did not know this about Pollorena though. Good story.

I played ball against Pollorena while he was playing JUCO ball at Marion Military Institute in alabama...heck of a ball player
He started one weekend game for MMI when they played us and he completely shut us down..and i remember one at bat he had where he called time and stepped completely out of the box but the umpire didn't give it to him and right when the pitcher released the ball he jumped back in the box and ripped at double to the left center gap.
