You also fail to mention Bama's probation allowed Hogs to play in Atlanta your third year.Of course,Georgia crushed the Hogs in SECCG.
Well you are just off by about 7 years on your attempted flame.

No, the only facts worth mentioning is the national title drought your major programs have been in since the 1930s, yet you think we are supposed to give two shits about Aggy?

I haven't tried to get you to care about A&M once on this thread. I'm merely pointing out your deficiencies.

There are no deficiences on my part.
There are facts, pure and firm facts that suggest Aggy was in an easier conference for the better part of the last 80 years and never won a major national title.
This does nothing but support my argument that no matter what your recruiting classes may look like, your major programs will not produce in a much tougher, competitive league.
There is nothing you can say that will refute my point.

Compete and be in the hunt late in the season for a West title sometime in the next 2-3 years?
True
I think they win the West within 5-8 years.
aTm will recruit well and be very talented. Talented teams always find a way to win eventually when the luck goes their way.

I don't know how you can come to this conclusion and hope to think anyone would actually buy it.

Message Posted by DWag215 Offensive talent isn't our issue at the moment, it's the front 7. But that's a fun stat to persuade someone who doesn't know anything.
Well you the ones wanting to win a title. You sound a bit touchy about that stat.

It's just not a proper indicator of where we're at right now offensively.
But as a general matter, you're of course right that we need to increase the level of talent.

The conclusion is based on NO major sports titles in 80 years.
If you can't understand that, you can't be helped.

A & M will compete with LSU, BAMA & ARK for top 3 in the SECW with a chance at the title every 2-3 years.

Over the same timeframe you used, Arkansas has TWO major titles to our one.

You have no major titles in modern era sports.
You should be proud.
Now excuse me, I have to watch the baseball piggies on ESPN

You're under the assumption that propensity = future. While it may be an indicator of the future, it's clearly not controlling and definitely secondary to the current state of the program.
To buy your logic would be to say that A&M could have the roster that Alabama has right now, yet not be able to compete with Arkansas or the rest of the SEC in 2012. It doesn't make any damn sense.
What I'm telling you is that the more talented the team, the greater likelihood of success. This is obvious. Sometimes, shitty coaches can transcend talent, or the ability to attract it, and set the program off its course (see Fran and Sherman).
The hope is that Sumlin is the guy and as long as he continues to bring in talent (something we've always done), of course he's not limited to history. He's limited only by his skill-set. He has everything he needs here to win, so did Fran and Sherman.
Our resources and natural advantages -- some of which we've only obtained over the last 30 years -- suggest we should be about where we were with RC, certainly not where we have been the last ten years. This is why A&M is often referred to as a "sleeping giant" or made fun of as "does less with more," etc. It is only a matter of time until the right man is simply able to light the fuse and piece together everything that he has at his disposal. To think Sumlin is the third terrible coach we've hired simply because we've hired two terrible coaches since RC is absurd. And because coaching has been the only issue since 2002, the statement is relevant.
This is not hard to understand. No one is saying A&M is Bama in 2012 or could be that (or anything close to it) in the foreseeable future. But I'd be extremely confident in saying that we'll have won an SEC championship within the next twenty years. And using our time in the Big 12 -- over 50% of which was under Fran/Sherman -- to argue otherwise is just bad logic.

About 2/3 of the teams in the SEC have enough legit players that IF they find that ONE player to pull everything together, they are capable of having a one hit wonder type of season. The real goal should not be to compete every once in a while but to build quality depth so you can compete every year. The SEC programs that can compete every year are much fewer in number and even those teams have to deal with up/down cycles. aTm has everything in place as a school to become a team that can compete on a year-in/year-out basis but it will be a hard fight to turn capable into reality.
This year Alabama's quality of depth showed up after the losses to last years draft. It showed up again with the results from this years draft. 15 players drafted or picked up FA deals. 15 out of 18 that applied for the draft which included 3 depth players that got FA deals. The next depth test will be what they do next season after the loss of 15 more players to the NFL.

False, and here is why.
Alabama isn't going anywhere for a long time.
LSU isn't going anywhere for at least 5-7 years.
If Arkansas gets a good coach, they aren't going anywhere.
Chizik is a horrible coach, but Auburn can consistently have good recruiting classes. The thing is they have to develop their talent. I think they have the guys in place to do it, they'll contend.
After that you're really not contending.
