Vandy is getting new artificial turf making them the newest to reduce costs. Do you care what surface your team plays on? As an old Equipment guy I like turf, blood easier to get out than field paint.

I actually like the turf that we have. When VHS had grass it looked like shite.

Yes I care, because at State we don't have a lot to brag about. Turf is one of those things so don't take it away.

The real question is..
How fast will Alabama's fat linebackers be on turf?

It was honestly only a matter of time.

College football is made to be played on Saturday afternoons under the sun and on grass.
If you MUST play some other time than Saturday afternoons, the please play on grass.
If you MUST play some other time than Saturday afternoons and on a surface other than grass, I hope you get great enjoyment out of your high school level program.

artificial turf does not reduce costs. But that can be another topic.

Umm yes it does but you don't understand that. Especially since they count paint and other things toward equipment budget not facility.
It doesn't reduce workforce but reduces in other segments.

Football is meant to be played outdoors perferably in the snow on muddy grass

um yes I do b/c I've overseen plenty of natural and artificial installations. I'll agree in some climates and situations, artificial is a preferred choice but I would go as far as just saying it always reduces costs.
yeah and increases in others.

Really ? Vanderbilt was the last SEC team to switch back over after going to 'Tartan Turf' in 1970 before switching to AstroTurf. Put down grass again in 1999.
Vandy's trying to get the Clinic Bowl back. Maybe HS kids will like turf.

No that Petrino is gone I would hope that we can go back to natural grass but its doubtful...

Reduces costs:
Laundry
Water
Fuel
Manpower
Rehab of Px Fields
Shoes
Uniforms
Paint
Equipment for upkeep
I can keep going if needed? FieldTurf is a cost reducer for a university.

I don't quite understand why people are so obsessed with grass over turf. I certainly prefer grass, but I don't have a problem with turf as long as it is good quality. As long as there isn't a roof on the stadium, IDGAF.
