The thing is, there could be more information out there that has yet to be revealed that could turn this whole thing upside down. At this point it's tough to really say what actually happened. I believe the simplest explanation is the one most likely to be true, and in this case that would be Petrino was having an affair with JD and that's what he was trying to cover up. I just think that him lying and trying to cover up the accident is basically a confession to me.
