It's too early to tell now.
Florida is still unsettled at the QB position, and the most experienced guy on the roster has 2 starts under his belt (brissett - both losses). We assume this will be better than last year simply because Brantley is gone (addittion by subtraction).
Florida also lost their two biggest offensive weapons in Rainey and Demps and with Matt Jones coming in that leaves 3 scholarship RB's on the roster. Hunter Joyer and Trey Burton (both FB's) may play RB, so huge ??? there even though Gilislee has a lot of experience and 10 TD's in his career.
If Florida scores big and gets both Agholor and Diggs in this class, that would be huge for the WR corp, but in game two of the season, UF's best receiving threats will be Debose and Reed, who are talented, but have had inconsistent careers, and who knows if the OL will be better. They should with 10/12 returning, but they were really bad last year.
The ONLY reason i will give Florida the SLIGHT edge is because their defense is going to be ridiculously good. They return almost their entire 2 deep on defense (lose 3 players, 1 starter) and if you look at muschamps track record, his defenses in year 2 are very very strong. And outside of getting worn out by LSU and Alabama this year, Florida's D kept them in every game and that was with limited depth - which will be much improved in 2011.
Add in the fact that A&M is breaking in an entirely new staff and Florida has a pretty strong kicking game and I'll say Florida by 3.

Oh noes! You mean a QB prone to making mistakes with the game on the line, a receiver who played like he didn't give a shite pretty much all year and our second best RB?
I would be shocked if we win more than 7 games next year, but I think some of you are uninformed about the areas of concern for A&M.

Love the passion that you show for your program.TAMU is a great fit for the SEC and will work out good it will just take a few years to adapt to the SEC.I will definitely be pulling for you guys to upset some teams next year I'm just not sure it will happen.Just beat West Georgia and we'll stay on good terms!

I think we'll win a close one, but who really knows. I also think it is going to be a helluvalot of fun. Me and several friends who moved to Gainesville for school but are from Texas are already making plans.

I appreciate the good football talk and am really looking forward to the game. Especially with it being the first SEC game. It will be a great atmosphere!
After a down year, I was impressed that Florida beat Ohio St. in the bowl game. No doubt there is talent on the roster.
A&M has talent as well. Sumlin is an aggresive playcaller and I know the team will be jacked up. And if Sumlin was calling the plays this past year, I believe we would have put away Oklahoma State and Arkansas.
The A&M team weakness right now is DL. If Florida had a punishing running game I'd be more concerned. But I think it'll be a good one.

Honestly, if UF has any resemblance that its "offense" looks like an average offense next year, with our defense, I say we go 10-2.
The likelihood of that happening? Probably zilch. UF goes 8-4 next year. Already calling a loss @ A&M though.

Florida is a sleeping giant. They have a ton of talent down there if they ever get their offense going they will be a contender.

It's the same thing as when Ron Zook was there. Zook had some pretty decent offenses in 03 and 04, but never could get Florida to play tough enough to win games.
Along comes Meyer - rest is history.
At this point in time, it's not that Florida is ever not talented, it's whether or not they can put it all together.
They're one year away from being legitimately good, but they're going to have a really good defense and that might be enough to put away Texas A&M early in the season with a new coach. Really the question to me is turnovers. The one thing that kept Florida from being 10-2 last year was their crappy TO margin. That gets cleaned up and they'll be hard to beat.

A&M is 11-1 last year with a decent TO margin.
We were favored in 12 of 13 games for a reason and built up first half double digit leads in 12 of 13 games for a reason
frick last year sucked

A&m would have killed florida last year. I think people underestimate how good that team was last year. Problem was they couldnt hold a lead late and that cost them a ton of games. I think floridas prospects look better in 2012 though.

A&M's faults were really not that complicated. Our team lacked four quarters worth of determination, grit, a competitive fire, whatever you want to call it.
That's why, IMHO and more than anything, Sherman's gone.
I'll be very excited to see this first year in the SEC under Kevin Sumlin.

If that's what call great football that's your opinion but just because the scores were close, "doesn't mean that they were great games to watch for SEC standards" .The last 2 years Florida 2010=7-5 and 2011=6-6.Georgia 2010 6-6 and even though Georgia went 10-2 in 2011 ,"their schedule helped make them look like a better team than they were if they would have played ARKY,LSU,BAMA they lose all 3 of those games. So in my "opinion" the games have been close but not good SEC football.
