An LSU letdown was almost inevitable

How many NC teams have ended the season by having to play 3 straight championship games? In their final 3 games, LSU had to beat Arkansas for the Western Division Championship, Georgia for the SEC Championship, and then Bama for the NC. Bama was able to end the season by playing Georgia Southern, Auburn, take a week off while LSU played in the SECCG, and then play LSU in the NC.
After November 5th, Alabama essentially had time to regroup, refocus, and put all their effort into redeeming themselves in the championship game. After LSU beat Bama on Nov 5th, they still had to "get up" two more times BEFORE the NC rematch.
It's not fair LSU had to end the season like that, but it is what it is and Bama deserved the rematch since they were clearly one of the two best teams in the country.

Arkansas for the Western Division Championship?
Surely you're kidding.

Surely you're kidding.

LSU would have fallen to #3 if they had lost to Arkansas who was ranked #3 at the time.

Half the threads on the rant the last two weeks were about LSU have more motivation than Bama. That LSU players felt disrespected, that Hbadger was mad, etc.
If a team is so weak-minded that they are incapable of being excited about a national title game, they are not the top team.

Were you really not aware what was at stake that week? The man was trying to describe what LSU had to face the last 3 games that perhaps no other team had to face and you minimized it? Good grief...

Which has nothing to do with the fact that you're the only person I've ever heard mention the Western Divison Championship or whatever the hell you said.

The team was excited going in, they just got nothing going in the first quarter and a half, which left the LSU crowd and team a little stunned.
To say they weren't excited about playing in the national championship game is pretty much incorrect.

Actually, you just got so excited about the chance to criticize an Arkansas fan, who incidentally was giving LSU some credit, that you forgot to think.

It's not fair
It wasn't really fair that everyone had a bye week last year before playing Bama, either. Or else we might be celebrating a 3-peat.
So...

I could have sworn Bama had a week off prior to facing LSU last year. So...

Or more accurately, Bama made their arse quit.

So did LSU.
We are talking 2010, right?

So did LSU.
Maybe so.
Seemed to work this year.

All teams have a "down" game. Look at the Bama Georgia Southern game. Georgia Southern had 341 total yards of O and scored 21 points against the Bama D.
Look at OSU vs Iowa St., Texas Tech vs OU...etc..etc.
