When is the last time lsu didnt have an excellent kicker, punter, and return man?
Not having a good kicker is a major part of STs.

Alabama hasn't had bad kickers. Jeremy Shelley just doesn't have the leg beyond 40 yards. He's 16-20 with a long of 37 this year. He was a Lou Groza Award semi-finalist. He was 12-16 in 2010, with a long of 42. The problem is that Cade Foster seems to have regressed after a decent freshman season in 2010. He was 7-9 with a long of 49 in 2010. He is 2-9 this year.

Going back further, Alabama had Leigh Tiffin from 2006-2009. Outside of his meltdown at Arkansas, as a freshman in 2006, he had a stellar career. He was very accurate from 35 and out. He was a Lou Groza finalist in 2008 and 2009.

It seems people have judged Alabama's special teams play completely on the 2011 LSU game. LSU fans like to throw it in our face, but then don't want us to blame the loss on special teams. Which is it?

Capstone you just confirmed what I said earlier. Difference is Saban did not recruit tiffin.

While at LSU Saban had two kickers as well . A long guy Gaudet(meh) and a short guy in Chris Jackson who shanked many Pat's.

Until Colt David and Patrick fisher developed We didn't have much in the kicking department.

Chris Jackson also punted for us.

so, bama does not have a complete kicker nor a pair of kickers that really compliment one another. is this recruiting or coaching?
either way the ST advantage belongs to LSU (probably in both recruiting and coaching)

This does not make any sense. LSU has better special teams and that played a factor in an otherwise evenly matched game. The game did not come down to just missing some long field goals however.
