Under for sure. The West coast won't care at all.

There will be that many LSU fans watching and bitching that LSU was not given enough "respect" on the broadcast.....even if LSU WINS the game!!

So, I say OVER

Here are the # of TV Viewers for all of the BCS National Championship Games.

quote:

2011 Auburn defeats Oregon - 27.3 million
2010 Alabama defeats Texas - 30.8 million
2009 Florida defeats Oklahoma - 26.8 million
2008 LSU defeats Ohio State - 23.1 million
2007 Florida defeats Ohio State - 28.8 million
2006 Texas defeats USC- 35.6 million
2005 USC defeats Oklahoma- 21.4 million
2004 LSU defeats Oklahoma- 23.9 million
2003 Ohio State defeats Miami- 29.1 million
2002 Miami defeats Nebraska- 21.6 million
2001 Oklahoma defeats Florida State- 27.2 million
2000 Florida State defeats Virginia Tech- 26.9 million
1999 Tennessee defeats Florida State- 26.1 million

I would be surprised if there aren't at least 24 million viewers to tune in for the BCS Championship game. There have been four BCS national championship games that drew in less than 24 million viewers. All of those games had even less appeal than a LSU/Alabama rematch. LSU vs. Ohio State was just a terrible National Championship Game matchup and was on fox. USC vs. Oklahoma was an epic blowout. That game was over by halftime. LSU vs. Oklahoma was played on a Sunday on the same day that NFL playoff games were taking place. I'm sure a lot of people had their football fix after watching seven hours of watching football. There was also the controversy with USC being #1 in both polls and being left out of the national championship game. Miami vs. Nebraska was a matchup that nobody cared about. Nebraska got destroyed by Colorado in the last game of the season. It felt more like a coronation than a game to decide the national championship.

Wasn't 2011 the first time that the game was on ESPN. That has to hurt the ratings because believe it or not a lot of people do not have cable.

I would expect viewership to be around 1.5-2x whatever MNF viewership is. A lot of people will want to watch football simply because it is the last chance to do so on Monday for about 9 months.

The average viewership for MNF is 14million for the past two years (this year it is 12.8 but it's a down year), therefore I would expect the BCSCG to be between 21 and 28 million. 25 million sounds about right.

Way over. Hell, the regular season matchup drew 24 million viewers, while other games were being played. With no competition, this game draws 30 million easily.
