Here you go you stupid Gump, I'm going to lay this out simple so even you can follow it.

First off, you linked to the pre-2007 NCAA rule book, which is laughable in itself

that said
quote:

1. Spearing is the use of the helmet (including the face mask) in an attempt to punish an opponent.
2. No player shall use his helmet (including the face mask) to butt or ram an opponent or attempt to punish him.
3. No player shall strike a runner with the crown or top of the helmet in an attempt to punish him.

FROM CURRENT NCAA RULE BOOK (this rule was adopted in 2008)
quote:

1. No player shall initiate contact and target an opponent with the crown (top) of his helmet. When in question, it is a foul.
2. No player shall initiate contact and target a defenseless opponent above the shoulders. When in question, it is a foul.

Now stop defending it. He clearly led with the top of his helment AKA spearing

the NCAA took out the "butt or ram" and "attempt to punish" in 2007. Yes I looked it up, because you told me to.

The missing piece to this whole argument is the fact that Jefferson got up after getting pummeled in the chest by the helmet of huge arse guy. That's a tough sonofabitch.

This is just another example of why I loathe them so very, very much. They claim every tackle by the opposition is a dirty hit with intent to do injury and at the same time contort every way possible to justify their own players actions as being perfectly good and legal.

Ok, I didn't know about the new rules.

His right arm/hand touches JJ's shoulder before the helmet hits. That is the initial contact. Seriously, watch it again and tell me it doesn't.

That's funny. How many LSU fans have been pissed off when Bama suggests we outplayed them on Nov 5? Yet it's perfectly fine for y'all to still be butthurt over 2009.
