No, it's not. Consult the NCAA rule book, please.

The words "butt" or "ram" imply the use of arms. You understand there's a difference between a tackle, and a butt or ram, correct?

I just did. There is a difference between "tackling with your head down" and leading with crown of your helmet

your boy lead with the crown of his helmet, the rule book says nothing about his arms

your first post you said spearing meant "leaving your feet" which is COMPLETELY WRONG

The question is what did he lead with? What hit first? Would Jefferson have been smoked if the tackler's arms were tied behind his back? It's pretty obvious the answer is, yes.

Here you go you stupid Gump, I'm going to lay this out simple so even you can follow it.

First off, you linked to the pre-2007 NCAA rule book, which is laughable in itself

that said
quote:

1. Spearing is the use of the helmet (including the face mask) in an attempt to punish an opponent.
2. No player shall use his helmet (including the face mask) to butt or ram an opponent or attempt to punish him.
3. No player shall strike a runner with the crown or top of the helmet in an attempt to punish him.

FROM CURRENT NCAA RULE BOOK (this rule was adopted in 2008)
quote:

1. No player shall initiate contact and target an opponent with the crown (top) of his helmet. When in question, it is a foul.
2. No player shall initiate contact and target a defenseless opponent above the shoulders. When in question, it is a foul.

Now stop defending it. He clearly led with the top of his helment AKA spearing

the NCAA took out the "butt or ram" and "attempt to punish" in 2007. Yes I looked it up, because you told me to.
