After saying he wouldn't be the Texas coach for a while. (Hypothetical of course)

Saban is going to the national championship for the 2nd time in 3 years. He is going to leave that for what?

Unfortunately Saban leaving would be a huge meltdown. Are you happy?

You can say that for any top 10 team head coach.

You can be proud of Bama all you like, but Texas could outbid you, out-facility you, out-endowment you, out-fanbase you, out-alumni you & out-everything you.

Until you can come up with something like The Gump Network & literally destroy conferences on a whim, upsetting the balance of power in college football as we've known it, then you can talk.

You can't, so don't bother.

Petrino Leaving Arkansas with a Note

I say this because Alabama has the resources to go out and hire another Nick Saban like coach. Arkansas kind of lucked up in getting Petrino because he was looking for the quickest way out of the NFL and back to the college game. I'm not saying this because I hate Arkansas (because i don't). I actually believe this. I don't know if Arky could find a better coach than Petrino.

The TRUE meltdown would occur when SABAn leaves Bama for Texas and he gives the BAMA administration his STRONG RECOMMENDATION for HOUSTON DALE NUTT to be HIS successor!!!!

IDK, it took Bama nearly a quarter century to finally find a coach that they could all get behind.

Classic Saban. If that doesn't prove that he is meticulous, nothing will. Of course he would recommend someone inferior to take over so that it would make him look that much better all the while boosting his ridiculously over sized ego.

I agree with you but, then again, I think Petrino's one of the best coaches in the country. The way he's rebuilt the program from nothing is amazing.

With that said, we're paying him close to $4mm/year, so I would imagine that we could sway a good coach to come to Arkansas. Especially after Petrino was able to get us a little rep over the past 3 years as a team that really COULD compete with the right leadership.

But even if we COULDN'T, I wouldn't be extremely upset if we had to hire Paul Petrino or Garrick McGee to replace him. I think McGee could assemble a great staff of recruiters and he's got a great demeanor. Paul is just as intense as his brother, which I think is his best attribute. He just can't stand to lose and it makes him a better coach.

You are 0 for in Saban leaving. I guess you can't ruin your average any further.

yes we did luck out on Petrino but give Jeff Long a ton of credit for getting shite done to keep him here: top 10 salary, massive mutual buyout, new football facilities, not interfering with the program, etc.

also our fans and fayetteville deserve some credit, he and his family enjoy living in Arkansas.

Saban could become the first 6 million dollar man/coach.

Austin doesn't strike me as country boy's style.
That and it wouldn't be a huge challenge for him with how easy he'd be able to pluck top recruits in state.
My opinion anyway
