Can the SEC Rant Definitively Decide How Many National Championships Bama Has?

Bama claims 13 titles. Looking at it, I only see 6 or so that really stand up to scrutiny from a historical perspective (winning the bowl game after being declared #1 would be one thing I would look at).
What is the actual consensus for how many legitimate titles that Bama has?

I went back and read Bama football's Wikipedia page where they give a description of each one and some of them are just laughable. Obviously, some are very legitimate, but the "13" number is an embarrassment to the university and should be dropped, in my opinion. People just assume that they are reputable and don't look into it.
It is a break of trust, in my opinion.

I wondering how this discussion would go with Tennessee.
As far as Bama, I'd say either 12 or 8. Nothing above, below, or in between.

Everyone claims less than they could because many of them are just bogus or are very controversial.
LSU could claim 8 according to Bama logic, but we claim 3.

I really think the 1941 title is the cause for much ridicule. That claimed 'title' alone almost makes it hard to take the 4 pre-poll era titles seriously, even though those aren't really bad claims at all.

I'll stop writing about Bama when I see you calling out Bama fans for saying that they are going for #14.
Deal?
I've seen the "14" number thrown around for the last couple of days and I'm asking for a defninitive number that is actually accurate.
You'd think that Bama fans would actually know how many real national championships they have.
I'm an LSU fan and we are playing you in the national championship game. I am going to start lots of threads about Bama. Get used to it.

Wikipedia is not a credible source. Anyone can go in and edit that shite
Y'all should claim no more than 8 imo, but whatever makes y'all feel better.

Good point. That claim causes you to look more closely at the others and wonder what else they are claiming that isn't right. If it were not for 1941, I probably wouldn't think much of the auspicious nature of the others.
1978 is strange too, because they got beat by USC and still claim the title over them. USC also had 1 loss.

They claim 13 but it could easily be 20+. Depends on which fan you talk to.
It's one of those horrible games like telephone where it changes from person to person depending on their criteria for a "championship."
