I personally love that people get sand in their pussys over this. Its hilarious IMO.
I also love how the OP is bitching about a one loss team who won the AP poll claiming a NC after beating the number #1 team in a bowl. What would LSU's national championship case look like if the criteria stated you must be undefeated.

Bear Bryant would claim a National Championship if it was written in crayon on a Waffle House menu.

Me and a buddy were discussing this yesterday. Gave an over/under on how many years it would take Bama fans to try and claim a title in 2011...we came up with 2035
This may sound like an attempt to make fun at them to some...but the sad thing is their fan base is so entitled and pathetic, that we really expect them to do this!!

1941 is ridiculous, agreed. It's also 70 years ago when the NC was a big cluster anyway.
As for 1973 and 1978, name one, just one school that does not recognize an AP or UPI/Coaches national championship they were awarded. I'm going to guess you cannot because EVERY school recognizes these without exception. It's a simple fact that the winner of these polls were THE recognized national champions, no question about it.

Wasn't bitching at all. Just pointing out that Alabama claims a title in a season that they lost to the 'other' national champion.

Is this true about their 14 NC's? Why don't we claim the 1908 team since it was undefeated?

"Jealousy breeds envy"
You won't admit it but there's only a few schools that can match 'bama in terms of history/great football tradition. If LSU were any good back then, you'd probably have a few of these 'debateable NCs' yourself.
Alas, you rode cock n balls back then so you have to resort to being a hater.
ETA: Does bama claim some NCs that are debatable? Yep! So do other schools as well. If you know anything about the history of college football you know that multiple sources handed out their NC awards before bowl games and some after. Their was no BCS and no "ranking system" that was dominant like their are today (i.e. AP/Coaches, etc).
I know, I know. Facts. frick em.

Alabama was unbeaten untied in 1966, the only team in the nation unblemished that year. Alabama does not claim a Title for that year. Does not fit in with your theory, eh?

I'm gonna make my own national championship poll and give it to LSU every year so we can claim them.

The 1973 title is a complete joke and an embarrassment that you actually consider yourself national champions. The 1978 title isn't quite as bad, nonetheless, when the other recognized national champion finishes with the same record as you did and beat you head to head it kind of settles it to me that they, not you are the true national champions.
