Hell, when I was in Mobile I can remember them talking about all the Yankees in Montgomery.

The fact that some of us get offended by the term should tell you something about part of Missouri's culture. Call someone from St. Louis a Yankee and he likely won't care. Those of us who carry the Quantrill banner to Kansas games may take offense.

I have relatives who have lived their entire lives south of I-10 and consider anything north of it Yankee territory. Even so, "Yankee" is intended as a friendly jab when they use it. These Missouri folks seem to be pretty hung up on the Civil War, still. I was under the impression that it happened a long time ago, but maybe it's PTSD or something?
