The dispute would be the margin of the victories. People will bash me for this, but I believe rematches are illogical. If both OSU and Stanford lose, it should be Boise State. If LSU remains undefeated, which is not given, and wins the SEC Title game, why would they play Alabama, again. It would be illogical. LSU won in Alabama. That was the corridor to earn your way into that game. If there was a rematch, then the Game of the Century would have been for not. What is the point of playing the game if it has no meaning. Basically, you are penalizing LSU because we would have to play an extra game and be at an increased risk of losing the opportunity while Alabama would be at home...that would be wrong IMO.
And to be clear, if you look at all my posts, I am clear on this, NO team should play for the national title if they can't win the conference. Also, we have no way of proving the SEC is light years ahead of other conferences. It's wrong to assume this....see Michigan, Ohio State and Florida in 2006.
