Greetings to all.
Rather than hyperventilate about all of the ultra-hype that the national mediots will be spewing out at everyone this week, I thought it would be a lot more fun to read some good personal stories from those of you who are lifelong fans of your favorite college/SEC team & have been doing so for several decades.
In my own case, this will be my 51st year of "officially" being an enthusiastic Bama fan, and I certainly have enjoyed watching & reading about the many great SEC battles that have taken place during the SEC's very long history, including lotsa good 'uns between Bama & LSU.
And since the "witching hour" of another Halloween is now upon us, I'd like to hear a few good tales about that incredible game that took place 52 years ago when the Tigahs & Ole Myth fought each other for the victory down in Red Stick in front of almost 68,000 fans in Tigah Stadium (dang big crowd for that era).
I was much too young to take much notice of it at the time, but I've certainly read many stories about it since then. And like all big wins & losses, that one still resonates in the hearts of all those who played in that historic battle, as well as the many fans who were following the intense action either in person or via a radio broadcast.
Obviously, that was a time when the Rebs still played for championships & it looked like that they would finally prevail until Billy Cannon stuck a dagger in their hearts with his terrific punt return for a TD.
Anybody around here actually attend that game or have a relative that did so??? Bet those crazy Cajuns really whooped it up when that one was finally in the history books.

Nice story Tom.
At a wedding reception in Illinois in 2000, I got seated with a table full of strangers. The lady next to me turned out to be Linda Knowles, Bear Bryant's long-time secretary at UA. I got about an hour of great stories. What are the odds, right?

I have no cool stories except for meeting Gene Stallings when I was in middle school.
My dad took me to meet him at a book signing and when we got there the guy told us that he wouldnt sign anything but his book and I took the 92 SI for him to sign. Dad didnt bring his checkbook so I decided to go ahead and wait just to meet him.
He ended up signing the magazine and talked to us for a good while
