After doing some extenive research, it looks as if the SEC accepted a historical mediocre athletic program in order to gain television markets in Texas.
Here is a look at how Texas A&M stacks up against the rest of the SEC's athletic programs.
1. LSU 46
2. Arkansas 42
3. Georgia 33
4. Florida 26
5. Tennessee 23
6. Alabama 18
6. Auburn 18
8. Texas A&M 11
9. Kentucky 10
10. Ole Miss 3
10. South Carolina 3
12. Vanderbilt 1
13. Mississippi State 0

They are pretty well rounded if you take in the Big 3 sports.

Right now, kind of. Still no Final Fours in basketball, no football BCS game since 1999. They did make an appearance in the CWS last season, but got beaten by an SEC team.
You know as well as I do though, the SEC prides itself on all sports.
You will see Bammers start threads about softball and gymnastics. You will see Florida fans start threads about their track team. LSU fans love the baseball, as do South carolina, Arkansas, Miss State, etc.
In the SEC, we love our sports.

FWIW. They are 18th overall on all time football wins.

Which ranks where in the SEC? Without looking, my guess would be behind bama, UT, UGA, UF, LSU, and AU?

We won 3 last year. I have no idea how that ranks against other schools though.

Doesn't matter. As a matter of fact, anything accomplished outside of the SEC doesn't matter. Just as Arkansas' football history started in 1992, A&M's will start in 2012.

When you increase the level of competition, people step up and get better over time. You have to play with the best, to reach a new level.

I'm more interested in how they stack up regarding major violations.

You should just be happy to get another AAU buddy at the table. Push for Missouri and we'll have our own little private club. Though the rest of us will also have a football team...

And just to confirm, AMU was founded in 1871, the same year Arkansas became an institution, correct?

Apparently the ones handed out by Tuscaloosa Tire and Lube aren't part of the equation...
