I was reading another site discussing Saban's ability to get players to the NFL. The one question that was never answered was, who is the most successful former Saban player in the NFL. I could not remember any who became All-Pro.

He coached Brady James, but Brady James is a DiNardo player. It seems Saban can get players in the NFL, but they dont become stars or dont pan out.

McClain would be the only one who would be considered as a possible star. Smith is talked about in the same breath AS Russell.

Cody could absolutely be a star in that D. And as for Smith, he seems to have turned things around. People in Cinci are very happy with him, so you never know. Definitely not the bust that Jamercus was.

They played under Miles though before going to the NFL.

Smith is the starter. How is that anything like Russell?

I did this awhile back, it is only players who played their last year of football under Saban. It does not include player that he had for 2 years, then another coach had him for the other 2.

No doubt. He gets them to over achieve through negative reinforcement. This is why so many of his players from LSU never really took off in the NFL IMO.
