How did Mississippi State finish ahead of South Carolina in the polls last year?

Watching both teams last year, South Carolina was the significantly better team. They had a lot more talent and they had more impressive wins. Both teams finished with the same number of wins so it wasn't a record thing either. I mean, would anybody take Mississippi State over South Carolina on a neutral field last year? I wouldn't.

Because we ended the season getting Destroyed by Auburn and losing our Bowl Game.
MSU destroyed a team that the National media loves to suck off.

And that about sums it up
How does ND get ranked each year

Maybe because we won our last 2 games and they lost their last 2.
ETA: And they had a worse record

Going into Bowl Games were were about 2 spots above them in each of the Polls (AP and USA Today) BCS we were 1 above them.
We lost our last game, they won theirs. The Teams that were in between us lost too (Utah and WVU).

The fact that that happened and we didn't get dropped out of the polls was truly surprising to me.

Only 5 loss team in the Rankings at the end of the season.
I'm somewhat surprised as well, but knew that the loss to the National Champ and FSU (another school the media loves to suck off), they'd keep us in the top 25.

Technically it's also a USC thread and they're my favorite SEC East team.
.....so suck it

Nothing against USC, definitely the best from the East but I would have liked State's chances against them last year. I just think about the Arkansas game & or the 2nd Auburn game. We will see this year.

I think we're favored if it's at our place or a neutral field.
But in Starkville honestly I'll say Toss up.
Just hope Garcia isn't out the night before.

Fair enough.
I'd say State be slight favorite at home. Toss up on neutral field and you a slight fav at your place.

Well actually according to Vegas we are favored by 1 this year.

Being #1 in the East that does not surprise me. We will see as the weeks change & get closer.

Because State was a better team? Look at the Arkansas and Auburn games.

Watching State and watching SC both play Bama doesn't qualify as following either teams enough to make that decision
