LSU & Alabama situations this year...almost identical?

When I ask Bama fans how they think they will win the west, they usually reply that despite their inexperience at the QB position, all the guy behind center has to do is hand it off and the run game and strong defense will handle the rest...while I don't agree with that totally, couldn't you say the exact same for LSU?
COMPARING DEFENSES:
LSU's D-line and bama's D-line are a TIE(IMO)
Bama has the big edge on LBers
LSU has the edge on DB's
COMPARING THE RUN GAME:
LSU Run Game & Bama Run Game--TIE
Richardson is no doubt the best running back in the west, or at least the most talented. And having Eddie Lacy as a solid no.2 back solidifies the tide as one of if not the SEC's top ground games...but LSU has their own halfback sensation in sophomore Spencer Ware, a couple of solid backups in Mike Ford and Alfred Blue, and even a speedy Jakhari Gore in the mix..
How is LSU that different than Alabama? Would the whole strong defense+strong run game overrides bad or inexperienced qb play be a valid argument for both teams this season?
I personally think LSU has the edge at QB because of experience and JJ's running ability..even though his poor decision making doesn't help us, he usually doesn't turn the ball over..
Bama's young qb's look very talented, but are young and i could see them turning the ball over if the pressure gets to them enough..

At LSU you play football, at Alabama we live it.
Deal with it.
Deal with it.

I think by mid season though we will be able to saw Ware and company are on par, but it is all speculation until then.

bama and LSU are pretty close. they dont have experience at qb and our "starter" lacks talent.

Makes sense.

Like i said, Bama has the edge on talent for sure...
But what happens if Richardson goes down? All i'm saying is that they don't have as much depth as we do
Bama--Talent
LSU--Depth

LSU has unproven depth right now but the better offensive line.
we know both squads have talent but our edge in line pushes the rushing closer to a tie despite bamas proven backs.
anyone that thinks either team is head and shoulders above the other is a retard.

What happens when he doesn't go down and murders it all year. We still tied?
It's like saying we're tied with Kent St if our first 3 strings go down and we use our scout team.

Do explain
I could see giving bama the slight edge there, but not by much..i think Ware will be top 5 rusher in the SEC this year
Yeah, I think he's that good..And i also think trent will lead the SEC in rushing since the tide will rely more on their ground game b/c of the young qb(s)

Bama fans being more passionate than LSU fans.

The main difference in the teams this year is how the schedule lines up. 'Bama, LSU, and Arky can all compete for the west this year. 'Bama gets both LSU and Arky at home, LSU gets Arky at home, and Arky just gets fricked. Based on home-field advantage 'Bama should be 8-0, LSU should be 7-1, and Arky should be 6-2.
Now, home-field advantage doesn't always work out and my homer pick is that LSU beats 'Bama on the road, but the schedule is the main reason 'Bama is seen as an easier shot to win the MNC.

You telling me Bama only has two scholarship RBs?
A more accurate depiction of your breakdown would be.
Bama--Talent & Unproven Depth with a proven commodity
LSU--Talent & Unproven Depth with a RB who showed promise in a bowl performance.

the pissing match for 2nd place is pretty entertaining.
LSU plays football bama lives and the flagship just wins

Well, then i would have to do a post-season analysis..the season hasn't kicked off yet..that's why it's purely speculation and opinion now

I don't have any interest in arguing the DB stuff again but I would say the biggest difference is LSU on paper has a more difficult schedule.
The QB's are the biggest mystery. Right now I'd say JJ just because of experience but by the end of the year either team could have a decided QB advantage. Sims/McCarron could struggle while JJ could somehow finally get it together (its possible) or it could go in the exact opposite direction.
