Couple Questions Bama Guys

Couple quick questions guys, how is Jesse Williams looking? Will he have the kind of instant impact at NG that Mount Cody had? If he is living up to the hype, what is being done with Josh Chapman? Will one of them slide over to DE to get both of them on the field? Also, I read somewhere that Saban spent a large portion of the summer studying TCU’s 4-2-5 system in an attempt to better defend the spread. Have yal heard anything of this so far from camp? Thanks!

Jesse plays DE. Chapman is the NT.

Haven't heard that, but I would be very surprised.

Wouldn’t be the first time I was way off, but I swore I read it somewhere. I was asking because I didn’t know if he was looking into playing some 4-2-5 or simply looking at how TCU separates its front six from its back five and operates them as two independent entities. I assume he’s looking more into the latter and if he could adopt this with his 3-4 because I don’t think yal have the personnel for the 4-2-5. I’ll see if I can find the article.

I haven't heard anything about this. Bama, of course, plays with 5 DBs quite a lot and certainly has the personnel to do that. A 4-2-5 look would have the Jack LB line up at DE which also happens quite a lot. Alabama's defense is very much a "multiples" defense. I have seen formations that look like the 4-3-4, 3-4-4, and 4-2-5 out there at various times.

Wouldn't this basically be our 'star' package with the Jack playing with his hand down?

What about Brandon Lewis? I've heard he's blowing it up.

Reports are that he looks good, but every report from every coach in the country says pretty much the same thing right now.
We will know for sure in a few weeks.

Yea Saban's 3-4 has always been a lot closer to an even under front than most people ever realize. I just don't think I'd ever read much about how much Saban ties in the back 5 to the front 6.
Also, how Clinton-Dix doing? For my money he was the top recruit in the land last year.

Haven't heard, but I only get the very generic practice reports. No "inside" scoop. I think he will be hard to keep off the field, but Alabama does have 4 more experienced safeties that I think they are comfortable with, so it may be tough for him to break through. Saban likes to play experienced DBs if he has the option. My uneducated guess is that he plays special teams from the start and works his way into the safety rotation by mid-way through the year.

Thanks, I have no doubt Saban will find a way to get him on the field somehow.

I doubt he has the Cody impact. He has very little "football experience" Cody's was a instant force in the middle.
