I'm talking about single digit losses.
happened in 2004
It aint happening for us in 2012 in an improved SEC
We have a chance to be pretty good- but in the end, Stands is still the coach. We are talking about a coach that lost to Rider to open the 2010 season because he didnt even practice zone offense in the 6 weeks before the season started. How do you not practice your zone offense before the 1st game????
And Bundy thinks this idiot can get a team to a Sweet 16

but that Memphis team is overrated imo. I have seen some people talk about them like they were one of the best teams of the decade.
I saw them play twice live, they were pretty damn close to it.
Miss st won't make the tourney this year fwiw.

If we dont- we will have a new coach in 2013

And Coonass thinks if we fire him we can hire a high quality coach who will take us to the Sweet 16.

I agree with Coonass, if we don't make the tourney this year with the talent we have, Stans will be fired.
Then we become The Auburn and LSU of the SEC.

2008 we were 23-12 lost a close game to Derick Rose and Memphis.
If he would have taken care of business in the non conference we wouldn't have been stucknplaying Memphis in the second round. Chances are if we get to the tournament this year we will also be playing a top seed in the second round due to us frickng around in non conference

If Stansbury does get fired the best we can do is hire a coach from the Southland or Sun Belt Conference.
He will be a better Xs and Os guy but won't have the recruiting ability or Mississippi HS and AAU connections as Stans. Thus making us Auburn from last year.

With the beefed up OOC schedule losing to teams like Arizona or ST Johns won't hurt us and will likely help our RPI and SOS

Why is that?

If Stans is fired, there is absolutely no chance that the dawgs get a "higher quality" coach to replace him.
RS is as good as it's gonna get in Starkville.

Don't tell Coonass this. He thinks we can get Gregg Marshall, Shaka Smart, or chris Mooney. All of whom would laugh at Scott Striklin if he called offering then the State job

I'd love to be the LSU of the SEC- they have 3 SEC titles, a Sweet 16, and a FF in the last 11 years
I wish we could be LSU in basketball

S you have no faith in Stricklin hiring a decent basketball coach if he has to?

I'm sure they'd laugh at a huge pay raise, a state with no basketball powerhouse to compete with, a brand new basketball complex, and one of the most foward thinking ADs in the country.

Dan Mullen and John Cohen disagree

Why is that? We can pay good money for a coach, have a brand new practice facility. Why can't we get a better coach?

I trust he would do his best, but he would have a very hard time attracting a coach to State. Our job is one of the least attractive in the SEC only ahead of OM and Auburn. I don't think Scott would offer a huge amount of money to a young inexperienced coach

Then why could you not get a guy like Barbee?
