To stay on topic, I think Les is a good coach.

I still think Les is lucky as hell. But his track record is good and hard to argue with. I like Les's personality more than I do as him as a coach
These are my favorite comments. "He is a likable guy, but not a great coach". Are you all former players that were coached by Les Miles? Until a former player or former players come out and say, 'yeah I was coached by Miles. And he is not a good coach', where do any of these comments find any merit?

There are arguably over 1 million coaches associated with some aspect of football in this country. There are close to 300 coaches in the NFL. There are probably twice that many in FBS ball. That is close to 1,000 coaches. Out of a million. All of them have to be somewhat 'good' to get those jobs. But lets go further.

There are 10? Elite teams in FBS. Lets just say that those ten elite teams, along with their coaches, can get their destination job to the NFL if they wanted. So thats 42 coaches out of a million aspiring minds in this country.

These coaches (42 of them) all get paid 1 million dollars+ to compete against each other. Some look 'worse' than others because they just get out-coached, and thus the labeling of a coach being 'bad' because he competes against another elite coach and not one of the 999,000 coaches out there that are really 'bad'.

Enter Les Miles, who has been a head coach, an assistant coach, at more levels (NFL and College combined) than most of these guys. He has had more games against college's best like Nick Saban, Steve Spurrier Urban Meyer, Mark Richt, Tommy Tuberville, Phillip Fulmer, Gene Chizik, Bob Stoops, Mack Brown, Jim Tressell, Frank Beamer, Joe Paterno...and lets not forget assistants of his that have gone on to be head coaches at College football powerhouses: Bo Pelini to Nebraska. Jimbo Fisher to Florida State.

And for all of you worshippers at the Altar of Saban, Nick is the one that helped LSU in their search for a new head coach and strongly recommended Les Miles out of Oklahoma State University.

This guy, Les Miles is easily a top 3 coach in College Football frick top 5. Who you got in the top 5? Nick Saban? Ok. Urban is retired he dont count. Tresell is gone he doesnt count. You cant possibly be thinking Bob Stoops can you? And don't say Steve-what-have-you-done-for-me-lately Spurrier? Les is a top 3 coach in college football. And when we beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa this year and take the NC later, he will be #1
