All of the top 8 prospects in Arkansas but 2 have already committed so there isn't a whole lot of drama instate this year.

Try to contain your applause until the end please.

8.) Jason King, OL

Height: 6’4
Weight: 295
40 Time: 5.3
High School: Pulaski Academy, (Little Rock, AR)

Top Offers:

Kansas
Colorado
ULM
Arkansas State

Jason is most likely the second best lineman in the state this year. Plays Tackle at Pulaski Academy but projects to move in to the interior of the line on the collegiate level. Right now Jason has a few BCS offers but is drawing a lot of attention from Ole Miss and looking for an offer from Arkansas. He will be attending Arkansas’ elite camp in July to try to earn an offer. Most likely won’t get an offer from the Hogs unless they miss out on numerous other OL that have offers and visits already set up. I look for him to be Houston Nutt’s obligatory yearly pickup out of Arkansas.

My prediction: 50% , 40% , 10%

7.) Derek Keaton, RB

Height: 5’10
Weight: 165
40 Time: 4.4
High School: Camden Fairview (Camden, Arkansas)

Top Offers:

Kansas
Ole Miss

Derek is the top RB in Arkansas this year in what is definitely considered a down year at the position for a state that has put out numerous elite backs in the last decade. Keaton committed to Kansas after attending their camp in June over an offer from Ole Miss. The Jayhawks do not plan to keep him at RB however and project him to either play WR or DB with them.

My prediction: 100%

6.) Neal Burcham, QB

Height: 6’3
Weight: 175
40 Time: 4.75
High School: Greenbrier (Greenbrier, AR)

Top Offers:

Central Arkansas

Neal is an anomaly this season and lands here on the list purely because he has been invited to the Elite 11 camp which makes him the third QB from Arkansas to go to the camp in the last 6 years. Despite this prestigious invite he finds himself with his only scholarship offer being from Central Arkansas. No one I have talked to can explain this other than the fact that while being extremely accurate he is rumored to have a very weak arm. He won the award for most accurate QB at the Arkansas camp last summer as a sophomore but has yet to receive much interest from the Hogs. I look for interest in Neal to pick up after the Elite 11 camp and assume he will end up with a school at the D1 level.

5.) A.J. Turner, LB

Height: 6’3
Weight: 200 lbs
40 Time: 4.5
High School: East Poinsett County (Lepanto, AR)

Top offers:

Arkansas
Arkansas State

AJ is the top LB prospect in the state this year and led the entire state in tackles last season as a JR with 177. Turner made no secret that he wanted to be a Hog and accepted a scholarship offer immediately upon receiving one from Arkansas. He projects as an OLB for Arkansas.

My Prediction: 100%

4.) Jeremy Sprinkle, TE/DE

Height: 6’6
Weight: 230
40 Time: 4.6
High School: White Hall (White Hall, AR)

Top Offers:

Arkansas
Kansas
Louisville
Mississippi State
Purdue

Jeremy is one of the top athletes in the state this year. The three sport standout can play on either the offensive or defensive side of the ball and showed out at the June Razorback camp at both TE and DE where he picked up Camp Defensive MVP honors. The impressive performance saw him pick up an Arkansas offer that he committed to days later. It was originally believed that he was an MSU lean prior to the Arkansas offer. People are split on where Sprinkle will play in college as Arkansas has needs at both TE and DE in this class.

3.) Jalen Cobb, WR

Height: 6’1
Weight: 185
40 Time: 4.5
High School: Warren ( Warren, AR)

Top Offers:

Arkansas
Arkansas State

This is also the first of three prospects that could be interchangeable as the #1 prospect in-state this year. Everyone of the top 3 is rated as the top player on at least one of the sites. Jalen is rated #1 on Scout and is just another in a long line of elite athletes that have come out of Warren High School in the last 15 years. Jalen’s coach, Bo Hembree, says that Cobb is the best player that has ever come through Warren and that is including current and former SEC players such as Greg Childs, Jarius Wright and Brett Smith. Cobb is another one of the players that long let it known that he was going to be a Hog since he was at least a FR in high school and was the first commitment of the 2012 Razorback class.

2.) Zac Brooks, WR/RB

Height: 6’2
Weight: 180
40 Time: 4.4
High School: Jonesboro (Jonesboro, AR)

Top Offers:

Arkansas
Auburn
Clemson
Notre Dame
Stanford

Zac is rated the #1 player in the state on Rivals and is currently committed to Clemson. Most project Zac to play WR in college which is what he was offered as by every school except Clemson. The Tigers offered him the opportunity to play RB which is what he splits time at in high school and would like to continue on with at the collegiate level if he can. It remains to be seen if his commitment to Clemson sticks all the way up until signing day. Personally, I think it's a waste of his abilities for him to play RB in college but it's his life so I wish him the best.

My Prediction: 80% , 20%

1.) Jeremy Ward, OL

Height: 6’4
Weight: 280
40 Time: 5.26
Bench: 365
Squat: 495
High School: Pottsville (Pottsville, AR)

Top Offers:

Arkansas
LSU
Ole Miss

Jeremy is a beast on the offensive line and is rated as the #1 player in Arkansas on 24/7. He is far and away the best offensive lineman in the state this year. Ward saw early offers from LSU and Ole Miss but committed to Arkansas after receiving an offer from the Hogs on signing day this year. Ward plays Tackle in high school but will move inside to Guard next year at Arkansas. The Hogs look to pair him up with last years elite instate offensive line recruit Mitch Smothers in the years to come.

My Prediction: 100%

That's pretty cool. Lots of good athletes down that way. I could be wrong but I seem to remember hearing that he was Marcus Monk's cousin or something like that.

I know right. I really struggled to fill out 6-8 but I wanted to make it more than a top 5.

Arkansas is just a boring state for recruiting news. There is such a small handful of BCS talent and 95% of them commit to Arkansas before their senior season even starts.

Nicely done!

I'm interested in who's going to be the feature RB when Davis, Johnson, and Wingo are gone. I've watched some Kody Walker and Donavan Roberts highlights, and they look beastly, but I hate missing out on instate RB's even though they may be a little undersized or something.

There are 0 BCS caliber RB's in the state this year but there should be 3 next year. Altee Tenpenny out of NLR is a name to watch. He will be a high 4* possibly 5* RB next year.

6) co-stars on miley cyrus show
4) buckwheat? or eddie murphy as buckwheat?
3) does he look like a kenyan distance runner to anyone else?
1) head chef at bob's big boy

Even though it's a small instate class, I'm excited about the guys we have signed. I wish we could have landed Brooks but the kid was born and raised in Florida up until a couple of years ago. He definitely isn't your normal Hog recruit.

Cobb is good enough to play as a FR if enough of the young receivers don't step up next season. He looks way above the level that Childs and Wright were at during their SR years at Warren.

Blows my mind that in this entire state we don't have one RB in this class that is the caliber of RB Petrino wants. But I have complete faith in his recruiting, he's proven himself in that aspect IMO.

I like Petrino's running game philosophy and think Roberts and Walker will excel in the power-spread scheme. Maybe Zac Brooks has a change of heart and decides to give WR under Petrino a shot.
