Pike and this notion he is not suited for Malzahn style O is silly. We need to be clear that what Cam did is not the normal Malzahn style O. It does not rely on the QB to run that much. Pike has plenty of running ability to get out of trouble and in return cause some trouble for the D with the threat he can take off. He will be a great addition to our team.

Exactly WDE. If you look at Malzahn's offense with Chris Todd there was much more misdirection prior to the snap than anything we did with Cam. In the evolution of his offense he has shown the ability to adapt his offense to his qbs strengths rather than being a pure system OC.

This is pretty much the jist of it. Cam ran so much last year because he could. Malzahn's offense really doesn't rely on the QB to run as much as he did, but the fact that he could made the offense that much better. We'll be more than capable with OL and RB's when Pike hits the field, so he's not going to be relied on to run near as much as a guy like Cam was.

Pike will probably be more of a Tebow like runner. Keepers on 3rd and 2 and some zone reads, etc. He's gonna be a big kid when he gets on the field too. Probably somewhere in the 245-250 range.
