Not sure if this was posted yet, but i just read that Spurrier has written a proposal to the SEC and the NCAA asking permission to pay 70 players $300 per game. I'm all for this, what do you think?

I'm for it. Players don't have time for jobs and a lot of them don't come from money. Let them have a little of the huge amounts of revenue they bring in for the school.

Stupid. They already get free education, housing, and food. That's not enough?

You wait 4 years to make your first post ever on the SEC Rant and this is what you post?

Why not. They give TGBFTL a stipend.
Miles supposedly agrees with SS...

Add it all up. Expensive...they get free school, free books, free meals, you name it. They don't have any money my rear.
I played a little college baseball and wasn't worried about money with school and meals paid for.

no they should not be paid, most likely if they got that money it would only lead to trouble

One of the Hog posters did a great breakdown of what they already get. They get like 17k a year already in Pell money, food, stipends, housing, etc.
If players start getting paid, then they are now employees and should be taxed on their income as well as adhere to ALL the other employment laws of this land.
How long until the diversity factors set un considering that 80% of teams are AA. Since they are employees, how will the interview process be set up for these jobs? Do women get to interview? Whe they dont, how long until Nebraska gets a discrimination lawsuit from some cornfed lesbo?
Will they be 1099 contracts on an annual contract or W2 employees of the university? Are benefits provided or vacation time?

B Rex, Why are you hating? it's not coming from the school. the money will come directly from the football program's revenue. Also, it will help deter them from taking money and other things from outside sources. Miles, Nutt, Muschamp (sp?), Saban, and Mullen all agree.
I'm not against players getting "donations", They need to be rewarded for being great, and it will surely make the mediocre players play harder so they can get the same benefits. I know a lot of parents who pay their kids for good grades, what's the difference?

Ok. I'm with you. That makes sense. I doubt it happens regardless.

Teams like Ole Miss can't afford it, therefore it's an unfair advantage to teams that can.
