yes, it was just some trees, but it was also destroying public property, that is going to cost a large amount of money.
So if someone destroys a building or something of equal cost, and its going to be expensive, would you say, no jail time as well.
For instance, what if someone burned your house down, what would you want done to them?
Yes, I know arson is a different crime, but take this from the monetary perspective
