I played on UT Arlington's wheelchair basketball team. Alabama is on their way up in the league.

@hogwild: Were you being serious? Hard to tell on here. If so, I would like some info. I have a wheelchair-bound family member, and knew nothing about this.

The University of Alabama is the only SEC school that has wheelchair basketball teams, both men and women.

In fact the Bama women's basketball team has won 2 national championships.

I say congrats to them.

The Alabama women are legit. They just had their first loss in two seasons a couple weeks ago in Tuscaloosa.

It doesn't get much exposure. There are only a handful of collegiate teams right now, but quite a few community teams. Anyone interested can checkout www.nwba.org for more info. I'd be happy to answer any questions as well.

@hogwild: it's yessum, not yessir :) I don't know what I want to know. I had no idea this exists. You tell me the pertinent things you think I should know. Thanks.

Haha, crap. My apologies.

How old is the family member in question?

Can anyone play or is it mandatory that these athletes are handicapped?
