The landscape is pretty at the U of A but the buildings are mostly old and ugly.

Very nice Hawgeye!

I'm very excited about the future for Louisiana and Baton Rouge. Louisiana was recently voted the #1 state in terms of job growth and business development, and Baton Rouge tied Seattle for #1 city in this area.

Louisiana Wins Business Facilities’ 2010 State of the Year Award

Best and Worst Cities for Jobs in 2011

Nashville was the only other SEC city or town mentioned.

That's horseshite.

THE Flagship isn't a campus you can drive through. You drive around the perimeter. The core of campus, i.e., the oldest, most scenic part, you actually have to get out of your car and walk through. Old Main lawn is as collegiate and beautiful as anything on any college campus anywhere. The other core buildings aside from Old Main are collegiate gothic, like a lot of old eastern schools.

Now on the perimeter there are some high rise dorms and ugly architecture, but that architecture is designed with lots of windows to take advantage of the sweeping mountain views from up high. Yocum and Humphreys halls might be modernist and ugly, but show me a prettier view from any college dorm room in the south or midwest and I'll eat my hat.
