Alabama used to, but 15th street and beyond has been built up with condos and student resorts. They've pushed the ghetto way back in the 4 years I've been here.

North side of Vandy isn't exactly the greatest.

Athens has homeless people all over.

War Memorial in Little Rock.

LSU kinda did that the hood isn't technically right outside the gates of LSU.

the hood to me starts at the weinersnitzel so we have a canes, the chimes, a block busters and some bars bt LSU and the hood.

south of that they put a pretty nice condo/apartment up so its just bt the hood and LSU's campus

I don't think any of them actually border the campus, though, do they?

It's pretty close. The hood welcomes you upon your arrival.

When I was at LSU in the late 70s, they told us not to walk past Burger Chef up Highland and don't go as far as Churches. Things more uptight then, racially. Is this still true?

Not directly. The closest ghettos to UT are the neighborhoods right above the Strip.

Really only a handful downtown I feel like.

And yes, the campus side of baxter street has 3 freshman dorms that house about 3000 kids, while the town side of baxter street has some projects.

yea you dont want to walk past the circle k any time of day on highland.

i find it amazing the changes you see on highland. one side you get big nice houses. you drive through LSU, past the north gates canes and all of that and then you get hood
