I know a lot of you think Kiper Jr is a tool so just take it with a grain of salt. I still find it damn impressive.
quote:
Seven of Kiper's top 10 prospects are from the SEC, led by Georgia receiver A.J. Green at No. 3.
LSU cornerback Patrick Peterson is No. 4 on the Big Board, followed by Auburn defensive tackle Nick Fairley at No. 6, Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett at No. 7, Auburn quarterback Cam Newton at No. 8, Alabama receiver Julio Jones at No. 9 and Alabama defensive end Marcell Dareus at No. 10.
All seven SEC players in Kiper's top 10 are juniors, too. Rounding out the SEC players making the latest Big Board are LSU defensive tackle Drake Nevis at No. 16, Mississippi State offensive tackle Derek Sherrod at No. 20 and Alabama running back Mark Ingram at No. 22. Newton has made the biggest jump the last several weeks. He was No. 14 on Kiper's previous Big Board. Kiper said of Newton, "Sure, he'll have to develop, but Newton's ability to run isn't just a down-the-field skill; he's also shown the ability to slide in the pocket, move outside and extend passing plays."

That sucks for him. I really think he could do himself a world of good to come back for his senior year.

Running backs are a dime a dozen in the NFL. He could go to a good team like the Patriots or Steelers if he goes out but he wouldnt make that Cammy Cam money.

i am a life long bama fan...but the fact is newton is a steal at #8...he is worth top 5 money imo

No he should jump at that now if hes guaranteed first round. RB's being drafted high is dissappearing in the league. Teams know they can get good backs in the later rounds. Being drafted 22 would be good for him

He certainly has the intangibles, but he is obviously a work in progress.

The guy was a consensus top 5 pick coming into the year. Yes, he'll get on a better team out of the break, but there is a big dropoff in money between the #22 drafted player and the #5.

Is it wrong that I'm a little glad I don't see Justin Houston's name mentioned here? Could mean that he comes back for his senior year...

I saw a board recently for next year that had Janzen Jackson at 12.

Any word on what round Lee Ziemba will go?

i agree he has work to do but it is not nearly the work left for TT or other dual threat guys of the past (VY). CN is tremendous in the pocket, great arm, good grasp of how a defensive scheme is designed and how to beat it, and he is obviously a leader. my thought is that the guy is better than Vick coming out of college...depending on team, he could start first year.
i honestly look for CN to be in the Hall at some point... just my opinion, but he could be first ballot HF when he finishes...RTR!

i would think lee is a second to third round pick...he has work left as courtney upshaw exposed in the iron bowl...but he has potential for a long career

Hes not going in the top 5, I can guarantee you that. He should come out now and get his money, RB's dont last long. No reason to waste a year in college instead of making money. Hes already accomplished so much at Bama

quote:its a strong QB class this year. i think some team will move into the late first rd to grab him ala tebow last year. to me, hes too similar to vince young. he might win alot of games, but the offense will always be limited with him at the helm. and i want a drop back passer, not a guy who wants to run. i love cam in college, will pass on him in the pros

That's pretty good for a RB. I still doubt he gets taken in the 1st round, but he should go if that's what everyone is saying.

MI will go this year...he has done all he can in college...my thought is that he will be the first back chosen, late first round.
Comparing CN with VY is only good on the surface...did you notice this year when he was forced to stay in the pocket (UA and OM)...he still made plays with his arm. He is also far more intelligent than VY and not nearly as unstable emotionally...CN is a can't miss player barring injury!

Thats a big bunch of crap- not even Al Davis would draft a RB in the top 5...RB's are going by the wayside in the draft. The Bills and Chargers hopefully learned their lesson this season drafting a RB as high as they did. Anybody drafting a RB in the top 15 picks has an idiot for a GM in this era of football.
