Honestly no I don't think Malzahn could do much better for a first job. I think MSU would be a great job for a first time college head coach who was coaching high school just 5 years ago. If he goes to MSU and wins decently there then he would be considered for bigger jobs. You aubs sure are a smug bunch these days.

For some reason people think this dude has been coaching college ball for 20 years and has had better jobs and would only take a USC or ND job. The truth is that he has been coaching college ball for about 5 or 6 years and you have to start somewhere. Money has a way of talking to people that want to listen.

not sure he could do better, how many big time programs are going to take a chance on a guy who was coaching high school a few years ago? great OC =/= great coach.

I think the better question would be "Gus Malzahn...do you want moo state?". And I'd imagine the answer would be

Really? You really think he'd laugh at a HC job in the SEC West, five years removed from high school?

I sure as hell don't.

No I dont- a top school is not going to hire him without head coaching experience. Thats a fact.

A chance for him to take over a program thats on the rise with a solid foundation right now would be perfect for him.

State is in a NYD bowl, they have 16 starters returning, RS'ed all but 2 guys from the 2010 class, and will have a top 20 class in 2011. AND they have plans to enlarge the stadium soon.

There is no way he could turn it down.

That's like asking why someone would turn down Vandy or Kentucky, even though they're both in the SEC. Being at a doormat and getting your teeth kicked in just to say you're an SEC coach isn't all that. MSU is the Vandy of the West, a school Malzahn already told to piss off.

Correct but some people fail to see that. In some far off distant land Malzhan has been coaching 30 years in college and 15 in the pros.

State is in a NYD Bowl
State has played for the SEC title in Atlanta

State is not Vandy or Kentucky

MSU has a lot more going for it than Vandy and UK.....for crying out loud, they are going to a NYD bowl.

MSU offers Gus the appropriate financial package, dude is history........Cam had a lot to do with his success this year. If you think he wouldn't you are either naive or stupid.

You might be right. Seeing as how MSU is the only team in the SEC with a sub .500 winning percentage, something even Vandy has accomplished.

If you can't see the base that has been established there talent-wise, you're an idiot.

You are apparently upset of his impending exodus from The Plains......
