"NCAA doesn't want to wage a war with the Newtons."

As per Finebaum talking in code to a caller...
What I inferred from this was that the Newtons are gonna get away with this unless the NCAA wants more information that the Newtons are now privy to to be exposed. So, now, basically the NCAA wants to let this HUGE infraction slide?
Someone try to help me understand why the NCAA would fear the Newtons... at all.

The NCAA doesn't want to go "ALL IN" until they are certain their case is airtight.
They are afraid Judge Ito and the downtown LA jury will find Cam and Cecil not guilty.
Also, the NCAA needs more time to plant bloody gloves...
Side note: Will Cam get arrested 10 years from now trying to steal his Heisman back?

He is utterly ridiculous. The NCAA will keep investigating for 5 years if they know something is up and need proof... There is no way the Newtons scare them.

They shouldn't. They didn't seem to fear Reggie Bush or his family.

They weren't afraid of USC and Bush's. So what makes the Newtons any bigger?

True, but it took them an arse ton of time to get the job done.

Good thing the Newtons don't live on Endor.

They don't want to be adversarial with the Newtons. They want to the Newtons to tell all and make their job easier.

Finebaum also said earlier this week that he wears his Cam Newton #2 jersey to work every day.
Dude's stock and trade is sarcasm and stirring the pot.

No, they weren't. But the NCAA also took 4 years to complete its investigation and finally announce formal allegations against USC.
FOUR YEARS.

Anyone who thinks they can intimidate the NCAA has lost their mind, outside of congress. If a school sues them they simply charge the schools more fees to cover the costs, this isn't rocket science.
