SMU did not kill the SW conference, Arkansas did. the conference was doomed because all of the schools were texas based and arky was treated like the red headed step child. when they left, all of the remaining schools except texas and texas a&m were losers financially. those two got tired of sharing tv revenues and bowl revenues with a bunch of losers that never contributed to the pot.

GrandDad is the only non-Hog fan that understands how the SWC ended.
FTR, SMU had a good program before the death penalty. Houston had some good teams in football and a very good basketball program. The SWC was a better conference than most on here give it credit for.
