I know that guy knows more than I do about this stuff but I just would have to think that the NCAA would change their ways for a case of this magnitude. It would just set a bad precedent, parents will hear about this and some will think we can try "pay for play" and if something doesn't work out then we can just say "Cam" didn't know about it.

Bama lawyer on Cam:
Eat that bitches.

This is my opinion as a licensed attorney. Others may see it differently.
If Cam HAS ABSOLUTELY NO KNOWLEDGE of "play for pay", none of this should effect his status. It will take Auburn down if Auburn participated. If NCAA ruled Cam ineligible for "sins of his father" w / o Cam's knowledge the NCAA in my opinion will be subject to law suit and damages on many levels including libel, slander, possibly of impacting Cam's Heisman possibility which may effect his draft status, and initial economic value in pros, etc.. I believe a court and/or jury would find NCAA rule making Cam "guilty" for Cecil's conduct arbitrary and capricous, and null and void. This hypothesis is based on fact that Cam has NO knowledge of what his father and others were doing, and he rec'd NO economic gain.
If Auburn knew of scheme or participated, NCAA can "order" Auburn not to play him, but to do anything that will infer Cam was a renegade or rogue player = NCAA liability in Cam v. NCAA.
Eat that bitches.

NCAA might send a message to parents who think they might want to do the play for pay route. If the NCAA lets Newton off then they can start a bidding war between schools the kid just keeps playing without consequences. All they have to do is hide the money well.

Lawyer?
You do not need a lawyer to plead GUILTY!!!
Lawyers are not in the business of saying "you're fricked. Nothing we can do to help you."
sheeesh. You folks are hanging your hats on the idea that a LAWYER thinks he can argue a loophole!
wow

"I wanted to go to MsState, but dad made the decision to go to AU. He said the money was too good" said Cam Newton. Hmm.... No law degree, here!

You are sad case my friend to bask in the knowledge that your season is based on cheating whether it is within the rules or not.
All that has happened is that a loophole has been exposed and you are proud that the Newtons are taking advantage of it.
Enjoy your asterisked championship season. Nobody in the country will recognize it. Maybe one day you will enjoy a championship season won fair and square....take my word for it...it is much better feeling.

That's the tricky part. But it's out there.
AU also paid money for Cam.

And we should believe this because has a history of being honest, forthright, and thrifty, right?
It appears to me that Cam lied about the laptop (he actually stole it - see TMZ), and why he left UF (academic cheating he chose not to deny).
The Reverend Cecil initially lied about discussing money with MSU.
Not to beat a dead horse, but this scenario asks us to believe two people who have zero credibility.

If Cam gets a pass, why wouldn't every recruits parents ask for money behind their kids back? If anything, I believe Cam should be made an example of no matter how talented you are, the NCAA is not going to make an exception for you.
